U.S. Marines to hold drill in Grand Central

The FDNY says it is holding an overnight training drill at Grand Central Terminal along with U.S. Marines.

They are calling it an emergency preparedness exercise but due to the Marines involvement it could be classified as a terror response drill.

The Marines will start gathering at 9 p.m..  The exercise is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. and run until approximately 4 a.m.

An alert issued by New York City warned to expect emergency personnel in the area.

Grand Central is a major transportation hub in the heart of Manhattan.  Metro-North commuter trains along with several subways lines use the terminal.

Earlier this year an environmental drill was held at the station with emergency crews in hazmat suits flooding the building.  That drill was to test an emergency response to airborne biological elements.
