Two trains disabled before entering Penn Station due to power problems

Two trains were stuck before entering Penn Station due to power problems.

As reported by the Daily News, an Amtrak train from Miami to New York stalled as it entered Penn Station around 11:50 a.m.

The passengers were stuck while the “rescue train” sent to retrieve the stalled train was also stalled due to power failure.

Power restored around 1 p.m. and service resumed shortly after.

But, then a NJ Transit train was delayed due to power problems.

The train with about 600 passengers was delayed right before entering Penn Station at 4:45 p.m. A rescue engine was sent at 5:14 p.m. to pull the train into track 8 at Penn Station.

There have been no reported injuries, and passengers did not have to evacuate.

The cause of the power problem is not yet known.

This happens as commuters have been dealing with the ‘Summer of Hell’ where Amtrak, NJ Transit, and MTA go through massive service changes to accommodate the rehab of tracks and stations.
