Trump nears VP choice; Clinton campaigns

With political conventions about to start, there is a lot of speculation about who the presidential nominees will pick for their running mates.

Donald Trump tweeted that he'll announce his choice Friday. Trump promised to announce his pick for a running mate before the republican national convention next week.

Trump told Fox News's Brett Baier he has narrowed the field down to two. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence are on the short list.

Until Trump picks a VP candidate, he continues to hit Hillary Clinton hard on his own.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg got under Trump's skin after calling him "a faker." Trump shot back tweeting: "her mind is shot! Resign." He called her a disgrace to the Supreme Court.

Clinton campaigned in Springfield, Illinois, Wednesday using plenty of her time to attack Trump. She said Trump's nomination is a threat to our democracy.

Political analysts expect her to pick a running mate who doesn't attract controversy. Political strategist Susan Del Percio says Clinton's choice will most likely be Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia. Del Percio says the last thing Clinton's campaign needs is drama, so Kaine, who has been vetted before, is a solid choice.
