Tom Hanks finds, tweets Fordham student ID

At 12:02 p.m. Tuesday, Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks tweeted an image of a Fordham University ID belonging to a woman named Lauren. Hanks wrote: "Lauren! I found your Student ID in the park. If you still need it my office will get it to you. Hanx."

And so, began the Great Lauren Search of Tuesday October 6. Online, offline, through channels both official and unsanctioned, a city sought a Lauren knowing somewhere a Lauren sought a way to get into the library.

The Fordham Observer reported the id belonged to a "Lauren Whitmore," a member of the Class of 2016 attending graduate school at Fordham's Lincoln Center Campus. But while a few gushed over her celebrity searcher, most of those at the graduate school knew nothing of this supposed Lauren.

But, one of her professors recognized that it was Lauren and emailed the link to her.

It turns out that she was jogging in Central Park when she lost the card.  She says that if Hanks wants to return it in person, she'll be more than happy to meet him.
