Thousands attend Coney Island Mermaid Parade

A sea of lace and glitter was at the 34th Annual Mermaid Parade in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

Participants crafted hand-made costumes to dressed up as a glamourous mermaid or their favorite ocean creature.

It is the largest art parade in the nation.

But it's not only for humans. A couple of furry friends floated in as ‘demons of the deep.’

For some mermaids, this is their one chance to make a splash.

Parade officials say there were more than 3 ,000 marchers and more than half a million spectators lined the streets.
