Ronan Farrow: remember Woody Allen was accused of sex abuse

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Acclaimed film director Woody Allen, 80, was among the biggest stars at the Cannes Film festival this week, and his son, Ronan Farrow, is using the opportunity to remind the public his dad is an accused child sex molester.

In an article for the Hollywood Reporter, Farrow, 30, shames the media for going easy on Allen despite the severe allegations waged by his sister, Dylan Farrow, in 1993.

"It was shortly before the (Bill) Cosby story exploded anew that my sister Dylan Farrow wrote about her own experiences — alleging that our father, Woody Allen, had "groomed" her with inappropriate touching as a young girl and sexually assaulted her when she was 7 years old," Farrow writes.

"I believe my sister. This was always true as a brother who trusted her, and, even at 5 years old, was troubled by our father's strange behavior around her: climbing into her bed in the middle of the night, forcing her to suck his thumb — behavior that had prompted him to enter into therapy focused on his inappropriate conduct with children prior to the allegations."

As Ronan Farrow's story went viral, Woody Allen was found in an awkward moment when a joke was made about him and sex abuse allegations during his introduction at the Cannes Film Festival.

“It’s very nice that you’ve been shooting so many movies in Europe, even if you are not being convicted for rape in the U.S.," said Laurent Lafitte.

The audience reportedly gasped as it was taken as a knock on Allen and possibly on director Roman Polanski, according to Variety.
