Rep denies Richard Simmons undergoing sex change

Fitness guru Richard Simmons, who has been out of the public eye for several years, has reportedly been hiding the fact he had undergone a sex change, according to the National Enquirer and RadarOnline.

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Richard Simmons' publicist has denied claims the fitness guru is living as a woman after undergoing a secret sex change.

The 67-year-old's publicist Tom Estey told Daily Mail Online: 'This is cr**', after the National Enquirer published claims he had gone through a series of invasive surgeries and is now going by the name Fiona.

The Enquirer posted photos Wednesday that appear to show Simmons with long, dark hair and dressed as a woman.

The tabloid claimed Simmons is now using the name Fiona.

Simmons, 67, has undergone breast implant surgery, hormone therapy, and several other invasive changes, reported the Enquirer.

In January, Los Angeles police visited Simmons' California home after friends became concerned about his well being.

In a phone interview, Simmons later told Entertainment Tonight that he was taking time for himself.

“This is how I want to live my life right now. And to all the people that are worried about me, please don’t be. If I was in any trouble, if I was hurting in any way, I would reach out. It is time right now for Richard Simmons to take care of Richard Simmons."

Over the weekend, Simmons was hospitalized for "dehydration."

On Monday, Simmons took to Facebook to thank his fans for their support.

"Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and concern after hearing I was in the hospital. I was dehydrated and needed some fluids and now I am feeling great! Summer is here - drink plenty of liquids. Big hugs and kisses for caring."
