Pulse patrons say shooter was a regular at gay club

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A man who frequented the night club where Omar Mateen carried out a mass killing Sunday morning says he'd seen the gunman there at least a dozen times before.

It remains unclear exactly why Mateen targeted the club.

The regular at Pulse says Mateen would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times "he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Mateen attended the Pulse nightclub possibly as many as a dozen times before the rampage.

A former college classmate told the Palm Beach Post that he thought the killer, who pledged allegiance to ISIS before killing 49 at the Pulse gay nightclub, was gay and in the closet.
