Prince William on cover of LGBT magazine

Prince William has become the first royal to appear on the cover of a magazine geared towards the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.

The Duke of Cambridge appears to be laughing in the latest issue of Attitude magazine, as he rests his chin on his left hand.

According to the accompanying article, it was His Royal Highness who invited members of the gay community and the publication to Kensington Palace.

"On Thursday 12 May 2016, His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge invited Attitude magazine to bring members of the LGBT+ community to Kensington Palace to hear their experiences of homophobic, bi-phobic and transphobic bullying, and discuss the mental health implications it has."

Prince William reportedly met individually with some of the attendees.

“No one should be bullied for their sexuality or any other reason and no one should have to put up with the kind of hate that these young people have endured in their lives," said HRH.

The publication of the historic cover comes in the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in United States history where a gunman opened fire inside a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida killing 50 and injuring 53.
