NYC reveals new list of worst landlords
New Yorkers could tell you horror stories about their landlords, but today, we're learning who is the absolute worst. FOX 5 NY's Richard Giacovas has more on who topped New York City's official "Worst Landlords" list, and how they earned that unwanted distinction.
NEW YORK - NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams unveiled the grim roster of New York City's 100 Worst Landlords for 2024.
This year, Daniel Ohebshalom did not make the list after landing first on the city's list two years in a row.
By the numbers:
This year’s Worst Landlord Watchlist includes 399 buildings with a total of 4,877 units. From November 2023 to October 2024, these properties averaged 146 open Housing Preservation and Development violations.
Barry Singer topped the list, with multiple Bronx buildings featured. His properties reported an average of 1,804 open HPD violations, 10 DOB violations, and 7 evictions over two years.
