2 dead, 2 injured in Newark shooting

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that two individuals died in a shooting that took place in Newark around 8:30 p.m. earlier tonight, Dec. 10.

Two people are dead after a shooting at a Newark recording studio Wednesday, officials said.

What we know:

The shooting happened shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the recording studio on Clinton Avenue, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. 

When police got to the studio, they found four men who had been shot. One of them, identified as 20-year-old Namir Bynum of Newark, died at the scene, according to officials. Osayuwamen Uyamu, another 20-year-old from Newark, died at the hospital about an hour later.

Paramedics took two other men to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One of the victims has already been released.

This is an ongoing investigation.

What we don't know:

Investigators did not identify the two men who were injured.

It's not clear what led up to the shooting, or if police have any suspects in the case. Officials asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact their tip line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC (1-877-847-7432).
