New York E. coli case linked to Chipotle restaurant

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — New York health authorities are linking a case of E. coli to a Buffalo-area Chipotle restaurant.

It's the same strain of bacteria that authorities suspect has made more than 40 Chipotle customers sick in Washington, Oregon, California, Minnesota and Ohio.

Erie County officials say Friday that this is the first, and so far only, New York case. It's under investigation by the county and New York state health departments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It's not yet known what specific food may have caused the illness.

The customer ate at the Denver-based company's restaurant in October.
