Midday meditation at new Manhattan studio

New York City is always in constant motion. It's a place where we are often lulled to sleep by the noises of the streets. Yet amid the chaos, some find silence and reflection.

New Yorkers gathered at MNDFL, a meditation studio on the Lower East Side, in the middle of the day just to get away and be one with themselves.

It's only been open for five months and already becoming hugely popular. Most of the people in the sold-out class we attended are on their lunch hour.

Lodro Rinzler is the co-founder of MNDFL as well as one of its 28 teachers. He has also been meditating since he was 6.

During the class, I learned that mindful, focused breathing is key but so is positivity. After my first meditation class, I felt more centered and relaxed.

Nowadays, there are even meditation apps available for your phone. Just a few minutes a day can make a world of difference.

For a lot of people, it's either meditation or medication. And at least with this, the only possible adverse side effect -- if you can even call it that -- is maybe feeling a little sleepy afterwards.
