Man threatened co-worker with ax over holiday gift, cops say

A trash collector was jailed in upstate New York after he tried to take a cash gift using an axe from his co-worker, according to the New York State Police.

Sean S. Date, 54, of Peekskill, and his partner were given a $30 cash gift to split from a customer in Putnam Valley.

Date allegedly wanted the entire amount so he threatened his co-worker with an ax, according to police.

Date was arrested following the incident at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday.  He was taken to Putnam County Jail following an arraignment.

His next court appearance is Dec. 19.  It was unclear if he had a lawyer.
