Man pushes woman onto subway tracks

NEW YORK (AP) - Police in New York City are searching for a man who they say pushed a woman onto subway tracks.

According to police, the 49-year-old woman was standing on the northbound platform at the 2nd Avenue station in Manhattan when she was shoved by a man from behind. Several good Samaritans helped pull the woman off the tracks. Authorities say no train was approaching the East Village station when the woman was pushed.

The victim suffered a cut to her head and was taken to Bellevue Hospital.  No arrests have been made. Police continue to investigate.
