Legally armed victim shoots his attackers, leaving one robber in serious condition

DETROIT (WJBK) - A licensed gun carrier that was being robbed shot at his attackers Thursday morning on the city's west side, hitting at least one of them.

Police said four suspects robbed a 29-year-old off-duty security guard who was on his way home. The incident took place near the corner of Livernois and 7 Mile.

Attackers hit the security guard in the head with a baton when he didn't hand over his belongings fast enough.

The victim, who is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, shot at the attackers.

He hit a 21-year-old, who was arrested and remains in serious condition at a nearby hospital.

The other three suspects, all in their 20s, took off.
