Jews celebrate Hanukkah

Sunday was the first night of "Hanukkah" the Jewish 'festival of lights.' To mark the start of the holiday, Senator Charles Schumer took part in the lighting of the world's largest menorah in Midtown Manhattan.

Hanukkah commemorates the rededication of the holy temple in Jerusalem more than 2000 years ago when a menorah was kept lit for eight days straight with only a single day's worth of oil.

The Jewish holiday lasts for eight days.
