Islanders team store fire sale

Who doesn't love a good deal? Even though Gary Waller has no idea who Sparky the mascot was photographed with in a poster, he still plans on hanging it on his wall. It was just one of the many pieces of memorabilia and merchandise for sale at the Nassau Coliseum now that the New York Islanders are moving to Brooklyn.

Shirts, jerseys, pucks, clothes for kids and even foam fingers were from 25 percent to 75 percent off.

Mike McDonald's new Brent Sutter poster brings back memories of his childhood and coming to the coliseum with his father.

The Team Store sale started runs through Saturday. Merchandise and one-of-kind posters are restocked until the shelves are empty.

Diehard fan Tom LoFaso plans on making a trip to the store every day. On Tuesday, he bought a parking sign, a jersey, and a piece of Plexiglas.

Daniel Wattel also bought parking signs, even one that says North Shore - LIJ. He has no affiliation with the hospital, but said you can't put a price tag on history.

It's the end of a 43-year era. Very few people walked out empty handed. Once the doors at the coliseum close forever the Islanders team store is going to be moved to the new practice facility at Cantiague Park in Hicksville.
