Drone Video: Deer falls through ice; locals clear a path to safety

Quick-thinking New Yorkers helped a deer who could have drowned on Sunday. And they did it with the help of a drone.

A deer and her fawn were on the iced-over South Sandy Pond in Sandy Creek when the ice cracked and the mother deer fell through.

Residents of the area saw the deer struggling in the icy water and went out in canoes and a shovel to clear a path for the animal to swim back to shore.

But she continued to struggle so Casey Hargrave, 19, launched a drone, flew it over the deer, and coaxed her back to land.

FOX 5 NY reported this story from New York City.
