Derek Jeter owns a dig dog (and confirms engagement)
FOX 5 NEWS - Former Yankee captain Derek Jeter wants you to know he has a very cute, very large mastiff named Kane. Oh, and it was apparently a Christmas gift in 2014 from his "fiancée." Jeter casually dropped this bomb in a post on his website, The Players' Tribune, which showcases adorable pics of the dog, which at 1 has now topped 100 pounds.
"I had no idea what I was in for as a new dog owner. He was a Christmas gift last year from my fiancée, whose family had Mastiffs growing up. I've never owned a pet in my life," Jeter wrote in the post. "Don't be fooled by his eyes. In his first few weeks home, Kane would look up at me with this suspicious face, like he was trying to say, 'Why should I listen to you?'"
He is set to marry Victoria's Secret model Hannah Davis after three years of dating, the Daily News reported a few days ago. The two were seen at the Met Gala in May.
Jeter has dated numerous famous and beautiful women over the years. He has had a relatively rigid policy of never talking about his love life in any detail or even answering the most innocent questions about that or the women.
Back in early 2014 when he announced his impending retirement, Jeter cited his desire to start a family as one of the reasons he was ready to hang up his bat, glove, and cleats.
