Credit union encourages staff to bring newborns to work

A credit union in California is earning praise on social media for a very family-friendly work policy that it has had for years.

Schools Financial Credit Union, headquartered in Sacramento, allows employees to bring newborn babies to work with them for until the six months old or crawling. The policy applies to new moms and dads after childbirth or adoption.

On its website, the credit union said the policy is to "assist [employees] in transitioning back to work."

Under the program, started in 2001, has seen about 150 babies come to work with their parents.

The credit union also allows employees to take off up to 40 hours per year to participate in a child's school activity.
