Company develops 3D printed drone
NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - A start-up has produced a 3D printed drone that is modular and customizable. It is called the Mosquito and is the brainchild of a Spanish company called BonaDrone. They say the drones will come unassembled with the customer's design.
Joseph Tomas Verges says he and some childhood friends came up with the idea two years ago in Berlin.
The company says that after more crashes than they want to admit, they have finally developed a drone that is ready to go to market. They are currently trying to raise funds on Indiegogo to ramp up production.
The drone is customizable to carry a camera, or a remote controlled arm that can drop a package. A promotional video for the firm shows the drone dropping an engagement ring to a woman. (We're not sure how many women want a marriage proposal to come via a drone.)
The customization allows the user to pick different colors for the drone, swap out legs and easily swap out broken parts. It is controlled via a smart phone.
The company has not announced when it will go to market or the cost.
