People are flocking to Prospect Park in Brooklyn for a glimpse at a multi-colored bird not typically found in the area. The painted bunting -- a species of cardinal -- was reportedly spotted near the LeFrak Center last weekend.

The New York Post and DNAinfo.com report that bird watchers have been amazed at the sight of the extravagant bird seen usually in the southern United States with its vivid pink, blue, green and yellow feathers.

The Facebook group Brooklyn Urban Birders has been providing updates of the bird sightings including videos posted to YouTube.
