6 injured after partial building collapse on Long Island

Six construction workers were injured Thursday afternoon after a partial building collapse in Suffolk County on Thursday afternoon.

Those who saw the collapse say workers were using a lift and the collapse happened in just a split-second just after 1:30 p.m.

All six victims were hospitalized, with three of the victims in critical condition, and one taken to the hospital via helicopter.

Witnesses told FOX 5 NY that the building had been worked on for the past few weeks, although the nature of the project remains unknown.

OSHA is helping investigate the incident to see if all codes were followed.

Suffolk County Police said that Route 25 is closed in both directions between Lake Ave. and Cambon Ave. in Saint James. They asked people to avoid the area.
