Bronx River Parkway car fire

Flames engulfed a car on the Bronx River Parkway on Thursday, causing a shutdown of several lanes. The Acura burned for several minutes near the Bronx Zoo, authorities said. Video from SkyFoxHD showed several small explosions rock the car while the fire burned. SEE PHOTO GALLERY

Police shut down the northbound lanes so that a fire truck could get to the scene to extinguish the fire. Cops also closed some of the southbound lanes. Police soon reopened northbound lanes. Southbound lanes remained closed longer.

No one was hurt.
