Bacon prices skyrocket with record demand

It's salty, chewy and crispy all rolled up into one but America's obsession with bacon is sending prices sky-high.
  
Prices for the part of a hog used to make bacon have risen as much as eighty percent this year because farmers are struggling to keep up with demand.

Frozen reserves are at a six-decade low.
   
We consume about three pounds of it per person buying more than $4 million dollars worth of bacon packages in 2015 alone.  American's bought about 14% more bacon in 2016 versus 2013.

Several restaurants and bars in Manhattan have bacon inspired menus.  They also note an increase in bacon interest.
   
Bacon has become a guilty pleasure, but The World Health Organization warns that processed meats like bacon may raise the risk of cancer.
