Authorities: Man had over 1,000 pieces of undelivered mail

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. (AP) — Police say a northern New Jersey mail carrier facing drug charges neglected to deliver more than 1,000 pieces of mail over the past three months.

Police Chief Robert Kugler said in a statement that Dominic Damiani, of Saddle Brook, was arrested on Aug. 13 in the parking lot of a Kentucky Fried Chicken and was charged with possessing drug paraphernalia.

Police found a syringe, gas pipe and wax folds of suspected heroin residue in his possession.

Kugler says detectives and the U.S Postal Service searched his car and found undelivered mail in the trunk. That mail has since been delivered.

The Record reports Damiani was then charged on Wednesday with theft.
