2016 in technology trends
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - In the past year, some major technological demands and trends have emerged. Take a moment and think about it. Chances are just in the past few hours you've had multiple moments of continuous connection with people, information, services and apps. Some call it a "digital mesh." And in 2016 we were introduced to even more life changing gadgets.
Mike Prospero at Tom's Guide noted that driverless cars really took off in 2016. Even Uber is experimenting with driverless cars. Also, he said Amazon Alexa gained in popularity and other companies are getting involved. Google has Google Home.
Virtual reality and drones are two more hot topics. Prospero said virtual reality is still a bit of a niche product but drones were one of the biggest holiday gifts this year.
But Prospero reminded us that not everything was a hit. The Samsung Note 7 literally started blowing up in people's pockets and had to be recalled. Another surprise was hacking. Cyber security is playing a huge role in 2016. More than a billion Yahoo! accounts were compromised.
It is a day and age where smart machines get smarter. A time where Internet technology evolves with every new technological advancement to help us stay connected in our digitally connected world.
