Vendors outside Yankee Stadium get a reprieve

Eight independent shops near Yankee Stadium have been spared from a situation they feared would put them out of business. A few weeks ago, a new deal announced between Nike and the MLB would have no longer considered these stores so-called standard merchandise providers. That would have prohibited them from selling official New York Yankee gear. But Nike and MLB modified their agreement giving the retailers the green light to continue selling the products.
