Small plane goes missing over Westchester

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities are conducting a water search in New York hours after a small plane went missing while on approach to a Connecticut airport.

State Department of Environmental Protection Lt. Bill Flynn tells The Journal News officials confirmed that a small aircraft went missing near the Titicus Reservoir. Authorities lost contact with the plane around 4 p.m. Thursday while it was on approach to Danbury Airport and officials haven't been able to confirm its location.

Search boats and divers could be seen scouring the reservoir.

Flynn says the search was called off shortly after 1 a.m. Friday due to thick fog. It will begin again around 6 a.m.
