Manhattan building was not struck by lightning, shattered window caused by tile: Officials

New York City officials say that a building located at 80 Pine Street in Lower Manhattan actually was not struck by lightning, causing one of its windows to shatter.

After an inspection, the Department of Buildings found that a tile from a rooftop restaurant at the neighboring 70 Pine Street same loose, shattering a window on the building's 38th floor.

Two occupants of 80 Pine Street were injured as a result of the incident.

The Department of Buildings has issued a summons to the owner of 70 Pines Street as a result.
