NEW YORK CITY - A late-night shooting in Brooklyn left one man dead and another injured early Sunday morning.
What we know:
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress inside a building at 842 Rockaway Avenue just after midnight on Sunday.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered two victims. A 44-year-old man had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head, and a 39-year-old man had been shot in the right leg.
Emergency Medical Services quickly transported both men to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. The 44-year-old victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The 39-year-old is currently recovering and listed in stable condition.
What we don't know:
As of Sunday morning, no arrests have been made, and the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear. The NYPD has stated that the investigation is actively ongoing.
The identity of the deceased man has yet to be released.
