Could you turn off your phone for Thanksgiving?

We spend most of our days staring our phones at any time of year, but Thanksgiving is a holiday meant to be spent with friends and family. Which raises the question, could you and yours get through the holiday dinner without your phone?

The suggestion came thanks to an op-ed in the New York Times which states that many of us have a complicated relationship with our phones, so turning it off could surprise you in a good way.

However, there is an exception to the proposed rule that if you do have  loved one that cannot be at your table this Thanksgiving, feel free to spend the entire evening on the phone with them.
