NYC Council speaker pushes for review of 9/11 air quality records
New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin is calling for funding to review long-sought air quality records tied to the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks. Menin said the city and federal government told people downtown that the air was safe to breathe, even as first responders, workers and residents were exposed to toxins after the collapse of the Twin Towers. She says releasing and reviewing the files is important for families, survivors and those still facing 9/11-related illnesses.
