President Donald Trump for the first time acknowledged his defeat in the Nov. 3 election and announced there would be an “orderly transition on January 20th” after Congress concluded the electoral vote count early Thursday certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

Protesters tore down metal barricades at the bottom of the Capitol’s steps and were met by officers in riot gear.

Congress was forced to abruptly halt its session on counting Electoral College votes won by President-elect Joe Biden as supporters of President Donald Trump swarmed the U.S. Capitol. But the counting resumed, and Biden’s win was certified.

The U.S. Capitol has been secured after pro-Trump protesters stormed the building on Wednesday.

A woman who was shot and killed after pro-Trump protesters charged the U.S. Capitol building on Wednesday has been identified as 14-year Air Force veteran, Ashli Babbit, of San Diego.

One of Washington, D.C.'s favorite pizza chefs went to work Wednesday, doing what he does best. Chef Jose Andres and his daughter took 120 pies to feed the law enforcement and security officers guarding the nation's capitol.

National Guard troops were mobilized to U.S. Captiol, which President Trump supporters have violently stormed as Congress counted Electoral Votes to certify Joe Biden's win.

A woman who was shot inside of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday has died, D.C. Police has confirmed to FOX 5. This comes after pro-Trump protesters charged the building as Congress began counting the Electoral College votes. 

In a letter to Congress, Vice President Mike Pence said he does not believe he has the "unilateral authority" to decide which electoral votes should be counted.
