Her protest forced the evacuation of liberty island on one of its busiest days of the year?the 4th of July holiday. Police have made several arrests in connection with last week's killing of a 15-year-old boy at a Bronx bodega. The NYPD arrested Kevin Alvarez, 19, of the Bronx, on Sunday. He was charged with murder and gang assault. Law enforcement sources told Fox 5 News that police in New Jersey took three suspects into custody. A fifth suspect was reportedly picked up in the Dominican Republic.

A New York State appellate judge issued a temporary restraining order blocking the NYPD from releasing officers' body camera videos to the public. This is a temporary victory for the union that represents rank-and-file cops. The PBA sued the city to prevent any police body camera video from ever being made public. The PBA lost the case in a lower court and appealed.

On June 3, 2017, Veve was investigating gunfire reports and started to question a teen suspect who sped off in a stolen car. Police said the car dragged Veve three blocks, but the officer managed to get off two shots.
