Teen suspect in busboy slashing arrested

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - The NYPD said Tuesday that they had made an arrest in connection with the slashing in the face of a busboy at Silver Spurs diner in Greenwich Village.

The suspect, who is reportedly a teenager with braces, slashed the longtime worker at the popular diner last Wednesday night.

The victim required 120 stitches.

The suspect was initially described by police as 15-17 years old. He was soliciting for a basketball team from customers inside the diner when he was asked to leave.

He responded, "I'll be back."

Shortly after, the suspect returned and was being escorted out, again, when he slashed the busboy in the face and ran, according to police.

Police had said at the time of the attack that they were searching for a homeless person or panhandler.

He was described as a light skinned black or Hispanic male. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and carried a gym bag with a file folder at the time of the attack.
