Staten Island Chuck's 2025 Groundhog Day prediction doesn't match Phil's
STATEN ISLAND - Staten Island Chuck, New York City's furriest weather predictor, once again let us know whether we should expect six more weeks of winter or an early spring.
The ever-so-shy Charles G. Hogg did not see his shadow, meaning the Big Apple can get ready for an early spring! His prediction differed from Punxsutawney Phil's, who saw his shadow, but Chuck has a better track record.
Staten Island Chuck, the Staten Island Zoo’s famous groundhog, took part in his annual Groundhog Day ceremony early Sunday morning.

New Yorkers will also recall the notorious debacle at the celebration 10 years ago, when a previous Staten Island Chuck wriggled out of the hands of then-Mayor Bill de Blasio and fell to the ground. That Chuck died a week later.
An autopsy revealed he suffered internal injuries, but it was not clear if they stemmed from the fall.
