Shots fired near cops in Brooklyn

The NYPD said Wednesday that two police officers on routine patrol in Flatbush, Brooklyn were not the intended targets of gunfire the night before.

Initially, police were on the hunt for the driver of a dark colored Nissan sedan and three passengers who opened fire from the vehicle at Ditmas Ave. and E. 23rd St.

The sedan with tinted windows slowly approached the officers at about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday when one gunshot was fired from the vehicle and then another after the car moved forward, said police.

No one was struck and the car fled the scene eastbound on Ditmas Ave.

A representative from the Sergeants Benevolent Association said words were exchanged between the occupants of the vehicle and the officers.
