Second arrest in killing of 10-year-old boy in Asbury Park

A second arrest has been made in connection with a a shooting in Asbury Park that left a 10-year-old boy dead and his mother wounded.

Police in Florida announced that Karon Council, 18, was arrested in Pompano Beach on Sunday.  He will be held at the Broward County Jail before being extradited to New Jersey to face murder charges.  He is believed to have been the one who fired the fatal shot in a shooting that occurred late Wednesday night on Ridge Avenue.  The woman was treated as a hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was then released.

A teenager arrested Thursday at Neptune High School is believed to have been an accomplice of the shooter. 

10-year-old Yovanni Banos-Merino died in the home.  His 38-year-old mother was treated at a hospital and later released.  It is unclear what sparked the shooting.
