Suspect with 37 priors in viral video of woman chased to Bronx apartment arrested

Police have arrested a man they say was seen in a frightening video trying to break into a woman's apartment in the Concourse section of the Bronx in September.

The video, which went viral, shows the victim, a 50-year-old woman, opening the door of her apartment just as a man comes running down the hallway. He reaches the door just as she slams it shut.

The NYPD announced Friday that thanks to tips from the public, they had arrested Orisha Luckey, 41, and charged him with burglary.

According to NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig, Luckey has 37 prior arrests.

According to the latest numbers from the NYPD, while murders and shootings in New York City are continuing to decline, overall crime, including assaults and robberies saw significant increases last month compared to a year ago.

Several videos of crime in the city have gone viral recently, including a mugger attacking a 65-year-old woman in Brooklyn and a shocking video of a man attempting to kidnap a toddler off the street in the Bronx have put crime at the forefront of voters minds ahead of next month's Mayoral election.
