Man shot by police in Bronx

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - There was a police involved shooting on Tinton Avenue in the Morrisania section of The Bronx.

The NYPD says a witness told police there was a man with a gun nearby. Officers say when they approached the man, they saw the gun.

The officers ended up shooting the suspect in the right arm.

The shooting occurred Monday afternoon. The three officers found the 29-year-old man on the street with a firearm, and asked him repeatedly to drop it. When he refused, two of the officers fired, striking the suspect once in the right upper arm. He was hospitalized in stable condition. The officers were uninjured.

A .22-caliber Ruger pistol was recovered at the scene. Police said charges were pending against the suspect and the investigation continued.
