Canadian man charged in Michigan airport attack

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - The FBI is investigating the stabbing of a police officer at the Bishop International Airport in Flint, Michigan, as a possible act of terrorism. Authorities have charged a Canadian man in the attack.

Law enforcement officers from a number of organizations including the FBI’s office in Flint responded to the airport after receiving the report of the stabbing of the officer, who is now in satisfactory condition.

Officers took the suspect, Amor Ftouhi, 49, of Quebec, into custody. The FBI said that Ftouhi yelled "God is great" in Arabic and then stabbed Lt. Jeff Neville with a large knife. He faces charges of committing violence at an airport.

Ken Brown told The Flint Journal he was dropping off his daughter at the airport and saw the officer bleeding from his neck. He says he saw a man detained by police and a knife on the ground.

"The cop was on his hands and knees bleeding from his neck," Brown said. "I said they need to get him a towel."

It's unclear what prompted the attack.

Flint is approximately 50 miles northwest of Detroit.
