Expert explains due process as Maduro faces US charges; Venezuelan New Yorkers rally outside court

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is expected to face criminal charges in the Southern District of New York as supporters gathered outside the federal courthouse in Lower Manhattan, waving Venezuelan flags and celebrating what they called a historic moment. Attorney General Pam Bondi said Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, will face prosecution in U.S. court. A newly unsealed indictment includes allegations of narcoterrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy and weapons charges. Other Venezuelan officials, including Maduro’s son, also face charges, authorities said.
