DHS restricts international student internships to mandatory degree requirements

Under updated guidelines from the Department of Homeland Security, F-1 visa holders can now only participate in off-campus internships if the work is explicitly required for all students to graduate. In response to the strict rules and potential loss of visa program eligibility, several major universities have temporarily paused processing these internship authorizations to review their compliance policies.
