Description: The Navy will name the next Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer in honor of the late Lance Cpl. Patrick Gallagher, who immigrated to the United States from Ireland. He settled on Long Island. While still an Irish citizen, he joined the Marines and went to Vietnam, where his heroism was recognized with the Navy Cross. A year later, he was killed in action.
