A New Rochelle High School senior is earning statewide recognition after being named New York State Public High School Player of the Year. Team captain and goalkeeper Hiro Velasquez has impressed coaches and teammates with his rare talent and leadership — from scoring goals as a goalie to helping lead the team to a 14–2–3 season.
