'Extreme' geomagnetic storm hits earth

An unusually strong solar storm hitting Earth could produce northern lights in the U.S. and potentially disrupt power and communications this weekend. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a rare extreme geomagnetic storm warning Friday.
