Bravery of firefighters

Some veteran firefighters said the devastating and deadly fire at an apartment building in the Fordham Heights section of the Bronx was the worst fire they'd ever seen. Lt. James McCarthy, the president of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association, said many firefighters ran out of air supplied by their breathing apparatus but still continued working at personal peril to try and rescue as many people as possible.
