A swimmer was bitten by a shark on Friday afternoon at Jones Beach, a source tells FOX 5 NY's Jodi Goldberg. The attack happened at Jones Beach State Park's Field 6 around noon. According to the New York Post, the man was taken to hospital, where he's expected to make a full recovery.

Preparations are intensifying outside Madison Square Garden ahead of the long-rumored Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding celebration. FOX 5’s Meredith Gorman reports large white tents, lighting rigs and what appears to be a step-and-repeat-style backdrop have been set up near the VIP south entrance. Street closures are expected to begin around 1 p.m. between West 30th and West 34th streets, including portions of Seventh Avenue around MSG. Access to Penn Station is expected to remain available from the Eighth Avenue side.

New York Harbor is celebrating America’s 250th birthday with Sail4th 250, a massive maritime and aerial gathering featuring a parade of tall ships. FOX 5’s Linda Schmidt reports from Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City, where families can watch the ships sail down the East River. The Class B tall ships gathered near Hell Gate in Astoria before making their way south toward the South Street Seaport and Gravesend Bay. Viewing spots include Gantry Plaza State Park, the Upper East Side and Lower East Side waterfronts and the South Street Seaport.

People Magazine associate music editor Jack Irvin joined FOX 5 to discuss the reported Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding celebration at Madison Square Garden, where hundreds of guests, tight security and a private setup have put all eyes on Midtown. Irvin said the couple’s relationship has become a pop culture institution, with fans following the story since Travis Kelce first talked about wanting to give Swift a friendship bracelet at the Eras Tour. He also discussed why MSG may offer the privacy, security and scale needed for such a major celebrity event.

Times Square marked America’s 250th birthday with the first of eight special ball drops, timed to midnight across U.S. time zones. FOX 5’s Jessica Formoso was there as the ball dropped for Guam, kicking off a day of celebrations in New York City. The ball will drop seven more times throughout the day and tomorrow, with the display lighting up for America 250. People can watch in person in Times Square or stream the celebration through America250.org.

According to sources, doors are expected to open at 3:30 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m. cocktail hour on the sixth-floor terrace, a 5:30 p.m. ceremony on the floor of the Garden and a reception expected to run until 2 a.m. The couple reportedly has a permit until 4 a.m.
